The world heavyweight boxing is now in a crisis for talents. Since the retirement of undisputed heavyweight king Lennox Lewis in 2003, the heavyweight division has not yet produced quality boxers worthy of the game’s prize pot.
Before the year 2000, world heavyweight boxing was a very exciting phenomenon . Heavyweight boxing sport especially became very interesting with the emergence of boxing greats like Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Joe Frazier and Evander Hollyfield.
Today, heavyweight boxing is in a virtual drought for talented and equally exciting quality prize fighters.
Aside from the current IBF champion in the person of Wladimir klitshko, the other champions from WBA, WBC and WBO are virtually unknown fighters.
Based on the present roster of heavyweight fighters, it may take a while before the heavyweight boxing arena becomes alive once again. boxing promoters and enthusiasts alike have shifted their attention from the heavyweight class to the smaller fighters. The big purse of this great sport has been transfered, and it will not be restored, not until a great exciting heavyweight comes along to revive the excitement, the thrill and the drama of watching giants trading thundering blows across the ring.
